Indiana 811

Indiana 811 began operations on Oct. 5, 1981. On our first day, we took 142 locate requests. Today, we annually process over 1 million locate requests and send out over 6 million notices to our members. In 2006, we formed a strategic partnership with Kentucky 811 under the umbrella of Underground Safety Alliance. This partnership has allowed both Indiana 811 and Kentucky 811 to continue to lead the nation in damage prevention awareness. The Midwest Damage Prevention Training Conference is a result of that ongoing partnership.

Indiana LTAP

The Indiana Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) helps street departments, highway departments and local elected officials better meet the needs of the public by acting as a resource for training, technical assistance and technology transfer. Our reach extends throughout Indiana and across the nation. Local highway and street departments oversee more than 80,000 miles of Indiana roadway in all 92 Indiana counties. We provide these agencies better access to available resources by offering technical assistance and training for all counties, cities and towns within the state. Indiana LTAP is part of a nationwide system of technology transfer centers, established by the Federal Highway Administration, that is designed to improve transportation department performance.

Indiana Pipeline Awareness Association (INPAA)

The goal of the Indiana Pipeline Awareness Association (INPAA), a committee of the Indiana 811 Board of Directors, is to effectively communicate the purpose, reliability, hazards, prevention measures, leak recognition and one call requirements of the Indiana pipeline system to the Affected Public, Emergency Responder, Excavator, and Public Official stakeholder groups within the state of Indiana.

Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC)

The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) is a fact-finding body that hears evidence in cases filed before it and makes decisions based on the evidence presented in those cases. An advocate of neither the public nor the utilities, the IURC is required by state statute to make decisions that balance the interests of all parties to ensure the utilities provide adequate and reliable service at reasonable prices.

Kentucky 811

Kentucky 811 was formed in 1987 under the name of Kentucky Underground Protection, Inc., by the owners and operators of underground facilities in the state of Kentucky as a means of reducing damage to those facilities and to promote public safety by reducing the number of incidents statewide. Kentucky 811 is a free statewide computer-operated communication system, designed to save time, money and costly lawsuits, and dramatically reduce accidental dig-ins. Kentucky 811 is a nonprofit corporation made up of operators of underground facilities within the state of Kentucky.
